MUJI's Sydney Office

Location: 1 Bligh Street, Sydney

Background:

MUJI is a Japanese consumer and lifestyle brand founded in 1980.  The Muji brand vision is not to be a brand. It is the no-brand brand. Muji, short for Mujirushi Ryohin, is represented by four characters that mean “no-brand quality goods.”

MUJI is expanding their presence to a two level office space in Sydney CBD.

  • Open plan, floor plate with practical and functional staff areas for a flexible working environment 

  • Reflect the brand's vision

  • Careful consideration of sustainability, using recyclable and raw material for soft and hard furnishings

Concept: 

As a renowned Japanese lifestyle brand, the MUJI office needs to provide staff with practical work spaces, whilst creating a cosy ambience. The interior still reflects elements of Japanese working culture, with traditional office seating for administrative staff. 

Level 23 was designed for accommodate the creative team and provide some traditional office seating. A bespoke breakout zone was designed with one side self-working station, whereas another side allows staff to meet for brainstorming sessions.

This space incorporates plywood slats for dividers, linen upholstery stools, and a touch of moss green paint wall to bring out some contrast. This space aims to create a cosy yet flexible working environment.

 

Level 22 was designed for accommodate client meeting and staff relaxation area. In consider of sustainability and material chosen to meet the brand's simple aesthetic design, neutral colour for upholstery has been chose for soft furnishing, this space incorporates recyclable carpet tile for flooring.
